ANZAC Quilts

January 6, 2012

Quilts are being made in New Zealand and Australia to commemorate Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) soldiers.  “We have had quite a few quilts made in recent times commemorating our forebears who died in the two major World wars,” said Anne Scott, editor of the New Zealand Quilter magazine.

ANZAC day is celebrated on April 25, around the day the soldiers began fighting at Gallipoli during WWI.

At the New Zealand National Quilt Symposium there was  a special ANZAC banner section. The banners were displayed in the Memorial Hall for the ANZAC day service.
