Frances Stauffer began making quilts for the Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale when it began in 1946. Her last charity quilt will be auctioned off on Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Elkhart, IN.

Quilts open dialog for sexually abused teens

The Palatine Park District quilt group donated quilts to 6 girls at Northwest Treatment Associates. Not only were the quilts pretty bed covers, but they were used to prompt meaningful discussions. One talk emphasized the fact that each quilt is unique and beautiful, just like each of the girls. Other conversations were about ways the girls can nurture and comfort themselves and how there are people who do bad things, but also people who are good and caring.

Clinton County quilting group donates to Sheriff’s Office

How cool is this? I was reading through my rss feeds and found a group of ladies that I know who donated quilts to their local sheriff’s office.  Click on the image for the full story.

The Clinton Piecemakers quilt group recently donated 22 children’s quilts to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office. The quilts are to be given to children deputies encounter in stressful or traumatic situations.
